MANGA BABES - 3D Models for Raytracing
--------------------------------------
This is the demo version of Manga Babes. Manga Babes are essentially 3D models
of the human female form designed and constructed in the style of Japanese
comics and animation. Take a look at the accompanying JPEGS to see what they
look like.
Manga Babes are designed for use with the Imagine raytracer from Impulse, Inc.
However, it has been converted to 3D Studio and DXF format for PC users and
any program that accepts Imagine, 3DS or DXF formats.
The demo version contains 2 Babe models (Imagine and 3DS) with some vital
bodyparts missing. However, they are fine for rendering as long as the missing
parts don't show. Only periphery limbs such as hands and foot are absent from
the models. Also, some of the parts are fused together so you can't manipulate
them as easily as the registered version. Furthermore, the brush map included
for the face is only in 4 colors and the hair is missing :P
Basically, the demo models look a whole lot less good as the registered ones.
However, you are free to experiment with it or attempt to fill in the missing
parts. You can use the demo models in any project (commercial or otherwise)
PROVIDED you give credit to the creator (Tomwoof).
"Demobabe.obj" is some kind of metallic Robo-Babe. You'll have to apply the
eye texture map manually if you want the eyes to appear :P Have fun playing
around with these objects. If you like these models, then you'll *LOVE* the
registered version.
NOTE: The DXF version is not included in this demo.
HOW TO USE
----------
Imagine:
-------
1) Copy the *.obj and *.cmap files to your hard disk
2) Assign GAL: to the path where you place the #?.cmap files
3) Start Imagine, start a New Project
4) Load "demobabe.obj" into the Stage Editor
5) Aim the camera, add some lights and Save Changes
6) Exit to Project Editor, generate the image and enjoy the results!
3D Studio:
---------
1) Copy *.3DS to the MESHES subdirectory
2) Copy *.GIF to the MAPS or IMAGES subdirectory
3) Start 3D Studio
4) Load "DEMOBABE.3DS" into the 3D Editor
5) Create a camera and some omni lights
6) Render the camera view and enjoy the results!
The registered version of Manga Babes will have the following features:
- 3D polygon mesh of a complete human female
- pre-assigned mapping coordinates
- set of texture maps for various facial expressions
- sequential texture maps for ANIMATED FACIAL FEATURES!
- Japanese anime* look with voluptuous manga** proportions :)
- aesthetic postures which can be modified into different poses
- stunning ray-traced images of Manga Babes in action
- installation and usage instructions with rendering tips and hints on how
to reduce faceting, use animated facemaps, modify the poses...etc
- 3DS, TDDD and DXF formats
Manga Babes is Shareware. See the file "Babes3D.txt" for more detail on
available packages and ordering procedure.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
----------------
The author is a fresh Computer Engineering graduate from Nanyang Technological
University, Sinapore. Still waiting to start work, he finds time on his hand
to pursue one of his greatest hobbies - computer graphics. 3D is just one of
the areas he has recently gone into. Instead of starting with simpler things
like teapots, he dived straight into modelling humans as his first project.
Unfortunately for the poor lad, his measly computer setup is getting too weak
for the ambitious projects he has in mind. Currently he owns an Amiga 1200 with
an 030/40MHz accelerator sans FPU, hardly the setup for serious 3D graphics.
Model making requires many renderings to check the integrity of the objects as
well as to refine the shapes. As the objects get more complex, the adventuring
author finds his objects exceeding the memory requirements of the ray-tracer.
He hopes to upgrade to better hardware and software but has run out of money.
Hence, he has decided to share his beloved 3D models with the rest of the
world. Hopefully the models can earn themselves enough to buy more memory and
an FPU (very important!), so that future projects may continue.

FOOTNOTES:
* anime - Japanese animation
** manga - Japanese comics
Japanese anime/manga are characterized by stylized art composing clean,
aesthetic lines. Human faces typically have large eyes and small, sharp
feature. Body proportions are usually exaggerated and enhanced in a manner
distinct from the style of American comics. Manga Babes is an extension of
this art form into the 3D.
